ROSATOM, one of the world’s biggest nuclear energy companies, announced further details of yesterday's agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran to scale-up the country’s civilian nuclear program, which has been constrained for decades by war and international political pressure.
OSART mission started at Kola NPP
The operational safety check – OSART mission – has started at Kola NPP. The mission is carried out by an IAEA team, which includes 12 experts from Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Iran, Slovakia, South Africa, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
First criticality program started at Rostov NPP Unit 3
The first fuel assemblies were successfully loaded into the reactor on November 14. President of the united engineering company NIAEP-ASE (the principal construction contractor) Valery Limarenko noted that it was the beginning of the fuel loading that made the reactor the actual reactor installation.
The brake on construction
Initially, it was planned to start up Unit 1 at Novovoronezh NPP Phase II this year. However, it was decided to shift it to 2015, while the Rostov-3 was commissioned ahead of schedule.
Russia goes without delay
One of the central topics of the international fusion conference, which was held in Saint-Petersburg early October, was the project on construction of the ITER reactor. Head of the Russian Domestic Agency ITER Anatoly Krasilnikov told how the Russian companies fulfill their obligations under this project.
