Armenia. Rosatom Service (part of Rosatom) installed surveillance specimens into the reactor pressure vessel of Unit 2 at the Armenian NPP. This was done as part of the scheduled maintenance program. The data obtained from the specimens will be used to make a decision on the extension of the reactor’s service life for another 10 years until 2036. Surveillance specimens are made of steel identical to that of the reactor pressure vessel and used to track changes in the RPV steel properties (strength, brittleness, etc.). “Rosatom proceeded with another extension of the life of the country’s only nuclear power plant. We scrupulously follow safety priorities: starting from 2025, Rosatom engineers will annually extract specimens from the reactor of the Armenian NPP and monitor their properties and changes in their structure,” said Rosatom Service CEO Evgeny Salkov.
