Construction sites. Installation of the roof over the turbine hall was completed at Akkuyu Unit 2 in Turkey. The process took a little more than three months. The roof consists of nine pre-assembled trusses with a total weight of 1,142 tonnes. The trusses, each 61 meters long and weighing 95 to 175 tonnes, were pre-assembled on two designated stands and then lifted on top of the building by a Liebherr 13000 crawler crane. The installation of the roof trusses onto the turbine building required careful preparations and meticulous planning of construction operations as each truss must be installed with an accuracy of up to ten millimeters. Rosatom is building four power units with VVER-1200 reactors at Turkey’s Akkuyu NPP.
