Construction  sites. The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority issued a license for the  manufacturing of two core catchers for the new power units of the Paks  II NPP. The core catcher is one of the most important elements of the  reactor’s passive safety system. This is a steel cone-shaped container  weighing 144 tons, which, in case of an emergency, prevents fragments of  the melted fuel from leaving the reactor building.  Rosatom plans to  build two units with VVER-1200 reactors at the Paks II NPP.
