Construction sites. Instrumentation and control (I&C) system components for the first power unit have been delivered to the construction site of Türkiye’s Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is being constructed by Rosatom. The I&C system is designed to monitor and control all key parameters of the reactor unit and the plant’s operating processes. The shipment included 42,000 units of equipment, such as control cabinets, controllers, computing modules and auxiliary components, weighing a total of 555 tonnes. Its installation and commissioning are among the key stages that precede putting the power unit into operation. As noted by Sergey Butskikh, CEO of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, VVER-1200 reactor units are equipped with state-of-the-art I&C systems, ensuring a high degree of safety. By now, most of the control and safety systems have been installed on Akkuyu Unit 1, enabling the transition to the reactor’s cold and hot testing phase.
