Contracts. At the World Atomic Week international forum, Rosatom and the Agency for the Development of Nuclear Energy (Uzatom) under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed documents to expand their cooperation in the nuclear sector. Pursuant to an additional agreement, the parties will sign a contract for a new nuclear power station design. The project will comprise two large power units featuring VVER-1000 reactors and two power units equipped with 55 MW RITM-200N reactors. The parties also signed key terms for contracts covering fuel supply for both small and large nuclear facilities. “In the Jizzakh Region, the heartland of Uzbekistan, we are creating an energy project of unprecedented scale. By pioneering the development of nuclear power in Central Asia, we are not just building the region’s first nuclear power station – we are the first to create an innovative solution for the future. Our project is a bold combination of advanced small modular reactor technologies and time-tested solutions of conventional large nuclear power stations,” noted Uzatom director Azim Akhmedkhajaev.
