Cooperation with Africa. Russia signed cooperation agreements on peaceful uses of nuclear energy with a number of African countries at the Russia-Africa Summit held in Saint Petersburg on July 27–28, 2023. The agreements were signed with Burundi, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia. The documents provide for the possibility of building power and research nuclear reactors, the use of atoms in medicine and agriculture, etc. Rosatom will also help Morocco desalinate water: Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions signed a memorandum of understanding with the Moroccan desalination and water treatment company Water and Energy Solutions. Another memorandum of understanding was signed between Rosatom’s TVEL Fuel Company and the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa).
