El Dabaa NPP. Rosatom’s chief Alexey Likhachev visited the construction site of El Dabaa NPP in Egypt. Together with Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, and Amged El-Wakeel, Chairman of the Board of the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority, they inspected the construction site and visited the seaport built for the future plant. The members of the high-ranking delegation were told about the progress in construction works and preparations for the first concrete pouring at Unit 4.
Alexey Likhachev noted that the construction of the first three units of El Dabaa NPP was proceeding right on schedule. “By the end of this year, we expect to obtain a construction license for Unit 4 from the Egyptian regulatory authority. After that, we will be able to start the first concrete pouring, which will signal the beginning of the main phase of construction works at Unit 4,” Alexey Likhachev said. El Dabaa NPP will have four power units with VVER-1200 reactors.
