Energy storage. Russian state experts greenlighted the Rosatom project of an energy storage gigafactory. All preparatory work has been completed on the site and construction will begin in the summer. A plant with a design capacity of 4 GWh per year (total capacity of launched devices) in the Kaliningrad region is planned to be opened in 2025. Gigafactory will manufacture lithium-ion batteries from which battery modules will be assembled. “The Russian production of lithium-ion batteries fully complies with the requirements of regulatory documents in terms of environmental safety. The gigafactory in the Kaliningrad region will be equipped with modern systems for managing and monitoring work in terms of environmental parameters,” commented Alexander Kamashev, General Director of RENERA.
