Environmental projects. Rosatom finished the rehabilitation of the Taboshar mining site in Tajikistan ahead of time. The height of the uranium sand dump was reduced from 65 to 35 meters, with over 1.2 million cubic meters of soil removed. The dump was subsequently covered with clean soil. A total of 39 special vehicles were involved in the effort, with 88 people working in two shifts. Background radiation on the rehabilitated site dropped to the natural level. The work was completed almost five months ahead of schedule. “In rehabilitating the uranium legacy site near the town of Istiklol, we took into account the environmental specifics of the area, including the local flora and fauna, and the project documents passed all the necessary expert examinations,” said Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir.
