Feedstock. Solikamsk Magnesium Plant shares were transferred to Rosatom. The company will join the mining division of the Russian nuclear corporation. “Our strategic goal is to make the Russian high-tech sectors fully self-sufficient in rare-earth metals,” Alexey Shemetov, First Deputy CEO at Atomredmetzoloto (the managing company of Rosatom’s mining division) commented on the deal. This May, Rosatom also gained control over the Lovozero Mining and Processing Plant, Russia’s only company mining and enriching loparite ore, which is used as feedstock for the production of many rare-earth metals (REM). Besides, Rosatom holds a majority stake in Tugansky GOK Ilmenit manufacturing titanium and zirconium concentrates. Thus, Rosatom controls the full REM supply chain, from mining to production.
