GIC. Rosatom became a partner of the Global Impact Conference 2021, which aims to collect and disseminate best practices for sustainable development applied in various communities and organizations. More than 40 experts from 30 countries took part in the conference. Opening the event, the head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev emphasized that the two main challenges for all mankind were the coronavirus pandemic and climate change. “Thirty-two countries operate nuclear power plants, which account for 10% of the world’s energy and more than one quarter of all low-carbon electricity. The argument supporting nuclear power is simple: it is the only carbon-free energy source that can reliably deliver electricity day and night, any time of the year, to virtually anywhere in the world,” said Alexey Likhachev.
