India. Rosatom’s fuel division went ahead with delivering on the contract for the supply of nuclear fuel for Kudankulam NPP Units 3 and 4, which are being built to the Russian design. Since 2022, the nuclear plant’s first and second units with VVER-1000 reactors have been supplied with the improved TVS-2M fuel assemblies. They ensure more reliable and cost-effective operation due to their rigid design, new-generation anti-debris filter and a higher uranium mass. The continuous operation cycle of the power units increased from 12 to 18 months. Kudankulam Units 3 and 4, which are currently under construction by Rosatom, will be the first ever VVER-1000 units to operate in an 18-month refueling cycle from the start.
