ITER. Rosatom chief Alexey Likhachev met with Pietro Barabaschi, Director General of the ITER Organization, who was on a visit to Russia. The parties discussed international efforts to implement the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, particularly the fulfillment of Russian obligations to manufacture and supply reactor equipment. Russia’s contribution includes development, production and delivery of 25 systems for the yet-to-be-built installation. “ITER is a remarkable example of international cooperation, where science unites nations in pursuit of a common goal. The input made by Russia, as well as by any other ITER member, is of utmost importance as it shows a shared commitment to the development of fusion energy that will exist for the benefit of all mankind. This input spans every aspect of the project, from critical components to key technological innovations,” Pietro Barabaschi said. The Head of the ITER Organization also visited the Troitsk Laboratory Facility of the ITER Project Center, Efremov Research Institute of Electrophysical Equipment (NIIEFA, part of Rosatom), and the Russian Academy of Sciences Ioffe Institute.
