ITER. The first four Russian gyrotron complexes were sent to the construction site of the international thermonuclear reactor ITER. Gyrotrons are devices for additional plasma heating and current generation. “Without these complex systems, it is impossible to obtain the first plasma in the reactor; the operation of ITER without gyrotrons is unfeasible. This is the result of many years of painstaking work done by our scientists, engineers, who have tremendous experience and groundwork in the manufacture of such devices,” said Anatoly Krasilnikov, head of the Russian ITER Agency. In total, Russia will manufacture and supply 8 (out of 24) gyrotrons for ITER.
