Myanmar. Rosatom and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Myanmar signed a memorandum of understanding on the assessment and development of the country’s nuclear infrastructure on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week. The parties intend to outline Myanmar’s current needs for the development of the national nuclear infrastructure and set out a priority action plan to make necessary arrangements for the construction of a small nuclear power plant in the country. The document stipulates that the nuclear infrastructure will be developed in accordance with the IAEA approaches and guidelines and Rosatom’s best practices. The memorandum also provides for further Russian-Myanmar cooperation in the training and development of human resources and improvement of safety culture in the organizations involved in Myanmar’s nuclear power development program.
