New icebreakers. Rosatom has completed the next stage of manufacturing the RITM-400 reactor for the Leader-class super-icebreaker. RITM-400 is almost twice as powerful as the RITM-200 reactors used on current generation icebreakers, allowing the upcoming icebreaker to break through ice up to 4.3 meters thick and lay a channel up to 50 meters wide. As a result, the Leader-class icebreakers will provide year-round navigation along the Northern Sea Route. The first icebreaker of this class will be built by 2027.
