Northern Sea Route. The nuclear-powered container ship Sevmorput arrived at the port of Vostochny (Primorsky Krai, Russia). The vessel had made its first government-financed coastal voyage this year. The sea journey from Saint Petersburg took 23 days. Sevmorput carried a team of researchers from Lomonosov Moscow State University Marine Research Center on board. During the voyage, the scientists conducted observations of marine mammals and birds and took continuous measurements of water salinity and temperature along the entire route. The vessel will next set sail from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Murmansk. The first voyage was made as part of the Northern Sea Route Development federal project. In 2022, Atomflot (part of Rosatom) won a government tender for subsidized coastal voyages from the European part of Russia to the Far East and back.
