Shipments. Rosatom shipped a VVER-1200 reactor pressure vessel and two steam generators for Unit 8 of the Tianwan NPP. This key equipment weighing over 1,000 tonnes will be delivered to the construction site by road, river and sea. “Russian equipment manufacturers consider cooperation with Chinese companies to be an essential component of their development strategy. Today, China is a partner truly interested in an efficient and mutually beneficial implementation of joint projects,” said Igor Kotov, head of Rosatom’s power engineering division. Rosatom is involved in the construction of four Russian-designed power units with VVER-1200 reactors in China, two at Xudabao and two at Tianwan. The Tianwan NPP is the greatest economic cooperation project between Russia and China in the nuclear power industry. After the commissioning of Units 7 and 8, it will be the world’s largest operating nuclear power plant.
