SMR. Rosatom received a license to place a small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear power plant in Russia’s north. The NPP is compact, modular and built faster than a large nuclear power plant. The project is based on the PWR RITM-200N, an icebreaker reactor adapted for land-based use. Commissioning of the station is scheduled for 2028. Rosatom has already carried out pre-design engineering surveys with off-site infrastructure facilities and a temporary camp for workers being built.
