Tanzania. Rosatom has launched a pilot uranium processing facility at the Mkuju River project’s Nyota deposit. The facility will be used to test and, if necessary, optimize the uranium processing technology. Data collected from its operation will inform the design of the main processing plant, which is expected to produce up to 3,000 tonnes of uranium per year. Construction of the main plant is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with commissioning scheduled for 2029. The uranium project is anticipated to create more than 4,000 new jobs in Tanzania’s mining and related sectors. It will also improve regional infrastructure, including the road network in the Namtumbo region.
