Long-Term Investment
Rosatom is also finishing preparations to the “Nuclear Power in the XXI Century” High Level Ministerial Conference. On June 27-29 the participants will discuss the problems like: power engineering and environmental protection, nuclear safety and responsibility, innovative technologies applicationmotivation. This event will be a ground for discussion of nuclear power’s long-term investment into countries’ stable development. This was the point of view expressed by Yukiya Amano, the IAEA General Director. During his visit to Russia he shared some expectations of the forum: “I would like to remind you all of what happened at the Fukushima NPP in March 2011.

That was quite a serious accident, and not only Japan but the whole world, the whole nuclear society, got mobilized to eliminate its consequences. By now we’ve finished the emergency phase and have passed to making a plan for future activities. This kind of plan is to be approved at the IAEA conference in Saint-Petersburg. It is extremely important to draw a proper lesson from what had happened, but at the same time we can’t keep looking back forever. We have to look ahead. That’s what the conference in June is about – aiming for the future. It’s the reason for all of us to get together again and discuss possible ways of atomic energy development. The conference may turn out to be our turning-point.
