Rusatom Overseas Vice-President Milko Kovachev presented prospective cooperation projects at VIII Russia-Singapore Business Forum (RSBF) in Singapore. During 8 years of its existence the Forum has become one of the leading business platforms for discussing key issues of economic cooperation between Russia and Asian countries. The Forum is traditionally attended by political and business of the two countries.

Energy security guaranteed
Milko Kovachev in his speech at RSBF noted the importance of nuclear energy as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly source of energy for the Asia-Pacific region. According to Mr. Kovachev, the power consumption of these countries is growing rapidly, and the development of nuclear power may be the key to their secure long term energy supply.

Milko Kovachev emphasized Rosatom’s integrated approach to its international customers. This approach includes not only the construction of nuclear power plants, but also solutions on staff training, project financing, attracting local industrial potential, as well as solutions related to national nuclear infrastructure development. The latter is the most relevant for the countries that are just beginning to develop nuclear energy.

Vice President of Rusatom Overseas also presented several prospective projects in the field of radiation technologies. “Today Rosatom offers a wide range of high-tech solutions in such crucial fields as medicine, ecology and agriculture. This includes production of modern equipment for radionuclide diagnostics and radiation therapy, supply of isotope production and radiopharmaceuticals, production of equipment for processing solid waste and wastewater treatment. Another promising domain is sterilization and treatment of agricultural products”- Mr. Kovachev noted.

According to the speaker Rosatom sees great potential in the Asian market, which resulted in opening of the company’s marketing office in Singapore in 2012. The office is responsible for the company’s business development in the region.

Advantages of localization
Soon after that Rusatom Overseas presented new opportunities for European suppliers at another important event – a meeting with professional organizations in Budapest. Bulat Nureyev, Director for Localization Program, noted at the meeting that Rosatom did rely a lot on local business while implementing its projects. Besides nuclear energy there also is opportunity for cooperation in the sphere of renewable energy resources and thermal power stations. “Localization does good to local economy, since it creates jobs and generates more tax revenues, also giving local business opportunity to increase its competence”- he said.

Bulat Nureev reminded the audience that in April in Budapest there was the first localization seminar where 146 Hungarian companies participated and filled in a special questionnaire. After analyzing the answers they were going to create two lists of enterprises potentially able to become Rosatom’s partners in the sphere of nuclear, renewable and thermal energy. Director emphasized that the cooperation between Russian State Corporation and Hungarian companies proved to be very promising and could be profitable for both sides, helping to achieve common goals. There are some good prospects in the sphere of machine building, producing equipment, pumps, cooling systems and fire protection systems, along with joint studies and developments. Russian corporation is looking forward to cooperation with Hungarian partners able to supply equipment and services for projects in nuclear and traditional power sphere.
