Belarus NPP’s new milestone
The upper half-vessel of the reactor intended for Unit 1 of Belarus NPP was assembled at the Volgodonsk Branch of AEM-technologies in Volgodonsk (part of ROSATOM’s Machine Engineering Division, Atomenergomash). By date, specialists have completed assembling of two barrels of the nozzle area and the flange, the last component of the reactor half-vessel. The half-vessel assembling will be followed by automatic welding of circumferential welds. The item as assembled weights 170 tons. In parallel, the reactor internals (baffle, barrel and protection tube system) manufacture is at the final stage of the process.

Energomashspetsstal to cooperate with Seohan ENP
The Ukrainian machine engineering works of ROSATOM, Energomashspetsstal (EMSS), signed a contract with the South Korean machine engineering company Seohan ENP. EMSS fulfilled the pilot order for its new partner. The order included round blanks totaling 111 tons. Subsequently, the blanks can be used for making wind-powered generators.
The new opportunities for Mashinostroitelny Zavod
The Russian-Chinese Memorandum of Intent concerning the cooperation in building floating nuclear power plants signed in July opens up potential opportunities for ROSATOM’s Mashinostroitelny Zavod (MSZ, part of the Fuel Company of ROSATOM TVEL) to fabricate nuclear fuel of both Russian and foreign design. “Since the MSZ is the only company in the world that has experience in manufacture reactor cores for floating NPPs, we are optimistic to highlight the fact of signing of such Memorandum by the Russian and Chinese partners,” Alexey Zhiganin, the Technical Director of MSZ, commented on the event. “The MSZ team is ready to launch and develop new promising areas of activity and the floating power units are one of such areas,” he said.
