The World Nuclear Exhibition is the largest global exhibition on nuclear power issues. ROSATOM was a desired guest at the event. A number of experts noted the largest scientific and technological potential of Russian nuclear power specialists. Addressing the World Nuclear Exhibition, head of the Atomic Energy Agency (NEA) of OECD Willian Magwood highlighted the great role Russia was playing in development of nuclear technologies. He said: Russia and France are two only countries with a mature nuclear program, which continue active research and development.

Conditions for success
CEO of ROSATOM Sergey Kirienko told about ROSATOM’s strategy in his paper at the World Nuclear Exhibition. He elaborated on the current conditions of nuclear power development. Today, the absolute priority is safety. This closely relates to the importance of the public acceptance of nuclear projects that has growth substantially. ROSATOM understands that people will be more unalarmed, if Russian-design facilities are built in their countries in partnerships with local companies. Therefore, the Corporation counts on the strategic partnership, a system of alliances, joint ventures with all partner-countries over the entire lifecycle of nuclear power. ROSATOM has cooperated for a long time with AREVA. Schneider Electric has placed an order for manufacture of electrical equipment with a Russian company. Alstom also is actively localizing in Russia.

Clean energy
At the Word Nuclear Exhibition ROSATOM had a united display booth where different companies presented their achievement in nuclear technology development. The exposition of the engineering company Atomproekt received special interest. The company has emerged quite recently as the result of merger of two design institutions – VNIPIET and SPb AEP. Just in the recent days Atomproekt has acquired the status of the architect general of Hanhikivi NPP in Finland, having signed the contract for development of the complete package of the project and licensing documentation for this plant.

Along with the special engineering information on NPP projects with reactors of different power range and types, research reactors, projects on management nuclear sector’s waste, Atomproekt for the first time presented a product targeted to a broad audience, i.e. the mobile application “NPP Clean Energy”. The application demonstrates basic principles of operation and safety of essential system of the state-of-the-art nuclear power plant, its robustness in regard to extreme external impacts.

To bring closer the client
At the World Nuclear Exhibition ROSATOM announced launching its regional center in Western Europe with the Headquarters in Paris. The center is established as an affiliate of the Rusatom – International Network, Rosatom France, which is registered in Paris. The company will have the task of developing international businesses of ROSATOM’s divisions through building up a mutually beneficial partnership with European companies and looking for new business opportunities. Andrey Rozhdestvin, the Regional Vice President of the RIN for Western Europe, has been appointed the Director of Rosatom France.

“The tasks of ROSATOM’s regional centers include, on the one hand, the search of new contracts for ROSATOM’s companies and, on the other hand, to bring us closer to the client, to take account of all its requirements. Rosatom France is another one of ROSATOM’s centers, which have been already opened in Prague, Kiev, Singapore and Johannesburg,” said Alexander Merten, President of the Rusatom – International Network.

The importance of cooperation
The World Nuclear Exhibition included a special session on the international cooperation in the nuclear fuel cycle, which was organized by ROSATOM. Opening the session, CEO of ROSATOM for Development and International Business Kirill Komarov noted that it had been France wherefrom Russia started entering the European, and then the global uranium market with its uranium products. “Many things have changed in the world for more than 40 years of the cooperation. But during all this period, we have remained reliable partners, have demonstrated unconditional commitment to fulfillment of undertaken obligations,” he emphasized. All session participants highlighted the importance of the international cooperation.
