ROSATOM completed construction of Unit 2 of South Urals SDPP Phase II
back to contentsequipment vendors and engineering companies capable of offering the customer a facility on the turn-key terms. Therefore, in 2009 NIAEP-ASE steadily stepped in the open bidding for building Unit 1 of South Urals SDPP Phase II and won. Three years later it was decided that the company would undertake construction of Units 2 and 3. The recent developments at South Urals SDPP (state district power plant) are the proof that the sectoral company has sound experience and large technical capabilities to operate not only in nuclear power but in traditional power generation as well.
“Commissioning in the commercial operation of South Urals SDPP Phase II confirms that our company’s strategy is the right one; the strategy which is aimed at implementation of innovative technologies not only at nuclear facilities but also in construction of other complex engineering facilities,” Limarenko said. “Today, we say we have built cheaper, faster and with appropriate quality. This is what engineering is. It is very important that in the time when there are difficulties, the victory is gained in the real sector of economy of Russia. For us this is diversification; it is a new business, so we thank the customer,” he says.

“These facilities are of significance of principle. Our region is energy-consuming; in regions where there is metallurgy, electricity consumption is high,” Sergey Komyakov, Acting Head of the Regional Government, emphasized in his interview with the regional TV Channel 1. “Replacement of old sources with such plants is one of primary activities, which are carried out by energy engineers. The plant’s equipment efficiency reaches 60%, it is in fact crucially different equipment,” he added.
Specialists of NIAEP-ASE are building power generation facilities of South Urals SDPP Phase II under an EPC contract (engineering, procurement, construction). It is the contract with a fixed price and timeframe, under which the contractor undertakes all responsibilities and runs all risks associated with the facility development. As per the customer’s requirements, South Urals SDPP Phase II should be a condensate combined cycle electricity generating plant consisting of three power units totaling 1,200 MW (3 units of 400 MW each) with auxiliary buildings and engineering utilities. Each power unit includes a gas turbine SGT-4000F by Siemens, one waste heat boiler and one condensate steam turbine plant SSТ-3000 by Siemens.
