Vietnam hosted the forum of nuclear industry suppliers
back to contentsThe “Atomex-Asia” participants were representatives of the World Nuclear Association, the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute, Vietnam Agency for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the corporation EVN and Vietnamese companies.
Traditionally, “Atomex-Asia” consisted of two key events, i.e. plenary sessions and exhibition. During the discussion the participants told about prospects of the nuclear power development in South-East Asia, in particular, reactor technologies and safety ensuring, localization and supplier requirements, training of the personnel and public acceptance. The exhibition provided the participants with an opportunity of demonstrating their products and services and making business contacts.
Besides, meeting participants Tiina Tigerstedt, PR and Communications Manager at Fennovoima Oy (Finland), and Professor Vladimir Artisyuk, the Prorector and Director of the International Relations of the Central Institute for Continuous Training and Education of ROSATOM, delivered a lecture for Vietnamese students. At the forum, a photo show of Bálint Vincze of Hungary was held. He spent more than 30 years working at Paks NPP and has got known as the author of the pictures of wildlife in NPP vicinities.
At the nuclear industry suppliers’ forum, Nikolay Drozdov, the Director of ROSATOM International Business, said ROSATOM could sign two first contracts for Ninh Thuan-1 construction in Vietnam already in 2015. “Today, the Vietnamese side is reviewing the feasibility study. The first contract will be for the NPP detailed design. The second will deal with the construction support base project. After the technical documentation is approved and a construction permit is granted, the general contract will be signed,” Drozdov said.
All final project materials were handed over to the Vietnamese partners in October this year and now the customer reviews them. “It will be possible to move further based on this review results and shift to the next stage. We are interested to have it made as soon as possible,” the ROSATOM representative noted. “Preliminary, the project was planned for 2014-2020. We are ready to meet this timeframe, but the customer has to make the final decision,” he said, adding that all financing parameters of the project remained and no changes were planned.
