Welded connection is performed using a special technology developed by the enterprise experts, which has no analogues in Russia. The welding process went on continuously for four and a half days. Metal preheating temperature achieved 200 degrees. The amount of built-up metal wire made almost 600 kg; the welding seam was 150 mm thick. Plant experts shall perform three basic seams on the reactor vessel; the second and the third seams will connect the floor and another shell. RITM-200 is a two-reactor facility with reactors of 175 MW heat output each. The facility has a long life and a plant ratio, an extended period of continuous operation, the minimum number of core refueling. Besides that, the facility has a low level of own power consumption, which provided finally the best operational characteristics of the ice breaker in general.
