Opening a new stage in Russia-Tunisia relations, the document provides for extensive cooperation between the two countries in the field of nuclear energy, including nuclear infrastructure development in Tunisia; fundamental and applied research; nuclear reactor design, construction and maintenance; isotope production and application in the industrial, medical and agricultural sectors; nuclear waste management; staff training in the field of nuclear physics and nuclear power, etc.
The Memorandum provides for the establishment of a joint working group to facilitate development of the national nuclear industry in Tunisia and carry out other projects of mutual interest.
An immediate goal set by the two countries in the Memorandum is to draft and sign an agreement on peaceful uses of nuclear power.
