The course included on-the-job training in the turbine island, main control room, reactor island, and electrical, automation and maintenance departments of the power station. Much attention was paid to classroom training. The trainees were consulted on a variety of issues and demonstrated educational videos. In addition, they had lab classes in the laboratory of the thermal engineering and measurement department. The training was synchronized with an important event – a full-scale Unit 1 simulator was commissioned at the Balakovo NPP. The Chinese students had an excellent opportunity to be the first to test this hi-tech training aid.
