The services framework agreement was signed between Rusatom Service and Paks during the visit of the Hungarian delegation to Novovoronezh NPP. The agreement provides for the delivery of equipment and spare parts to be used for the maintenance and modernization of four reactor units in operation at the Hungarian nuclear station. According to Rusatom Service, specific terms and conditions of each delivery will be set out in appendices to the agreement.

Company CEO Evgeny Salkov says, “This year is the 60th anniversary of the Russian-Hungarian cooperation in the nuclear industry. We are glad that our cooperation continues and expands into new areas, such as NPP maintenance and modernization.” Istvan Hamvas from Paks adds, “The framework agreement for NPP maintenance and modernization services is yet another milestone in 30 years of Paks history, which began with construction of the nuclear plant and continued into capacity boost and service life extension.”

Several days ago the companies signed a contract for the production and delivery of 24 new-model guide vanes (317-01-0224 SB) for the main circulation pumps as part of the modernization project involving the operating reactors at Paks. According to the schedule, the new equipment will be delivered in 2016–2020.  Evgeny Salkov says that the contract is of great importance for the company and is a move ahead in the nuclear cooperation between Russia and Hungary.  “We have accumulated solid expertise and competencies in the maintenance and modernization of VVER-based nuclear stations. We will be glad to share it with our partners,” stressed Evgeny Salkov.

Paks NPP is the only Hungarian nuclear power plant launched in 1982. The plant operates four VVER-440 reactor units, with two more to be built by Rosatom in the near future.
