Igor Igoshin, a member of the Russian Parliamentary Committee for Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship, says, “I would like to focus on the words of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi that Rosatom has won the tender in open, fair competition. Russia’a offer was named by Egypt as the best bid in terms of project safety and cost efficiency. These two aspects make Russia the global leader by the number of reactors under construction. For the last decade, Russia has made a long, hard way, turning from a nuclear outsider into a major player on the nuclear technology market. Rosatom’s clear advantage is its integrated offering that comprises 3+ generation nuclear reactors, fuel supplies, end-to-end nuclear plant maintenance, spent nuclear fuel reprocessing, staff training, infrastructure development, legal assistance and flexible terms of finance. Export of nuclear technologies improves Russia’s reputation globally and offers new opportunities for the national industry. This is true that Russia will finance construction of the nuclear station in Egypt but Russian companies will earn twice as much as construction costs.”
