Next-Gen 3D Printer to Appear by the End of the Year
back to contentsThe pilot 3D printer capable of making products from metal and composite materials is expected to be assembled by the end of this year, said Alexei Dub, First Deputy CEO of Science and Innovations (Rosatom’s research division), at NDExpo 2017 in Moscow. Additive manufacturing technologies for printing complex 3D objects are a key item on Rosatom’s innovative development agenda. The company focuses on 3D metal printing technologies allowing for products to be made of special metal powders. “The new 3D printer capable of printing metallic and composite products will further expand the application range for the additive technology,” said Alexei Dub. The Russian-made printer is expected to cost 20% less than its foreign counterparts and have better performance. Metal powders for the 3D printer will be also produced in Russia. A regulatory framework, yet unavailable, is important for the full-fledged commercial use of the technology. Its accelerated creation is a primary task for the near future.
