A few days ago, the plant played host to a seminar conducted by IAEA expert Yuri Martynenko. The event was held as part of the joint operation safety consulting project of the IAEA and RosEnergoAtom in the run-up to the OSART mission to the plant in 2019. “I see an intense interest among the management and personnel to ensuring safe operation of the nuclear plant. Much work is being done to meet our guidelines,” Mr. Martynenko noted. Viktor Ignatov, Director of the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant, thanked the IAEA expert and stressed the importance of IAEA advice and support, “It is joint work and exchange of expertise that help us assess the situation and work out a strategy for improving the safety level.”
