Nuclear Technologies for Brazil

back to contents

Rosatom presented Russian nuclear technologies to Brazil’s business community. Vadim Titov, CEO of Rosatom International Network, spoke at the plenary session of the BRICS+ NeLi (New Economies & Legal Infrastructure) summit. The forum brought together top business leaders and government officials from Brazil and other BRICS nations.

In his speech, Vadim Titov emphasized the critical role of civil nuclear technologies in sustainable development. “Nuclear energy plays an indispensable role in building a sustainable future for BRICS countries, enabling them to address strategic tasks comprehensively and efficiently—after all, every member state is focused on ensuring energy security and stable energy supply, and reducing carbon emissions. Rosatom possesses unparalleled expertise and technologies to offer its partners comprehensive nuclear power solutions tailored to the needs of their national economies,” he said.

The Rosatom executive also discussed the prospects for nuclear energy cooperation among BRICS nations. “BRICS countries are increasingly collaborating with one another on advancing nuclear energy. We support the BRICS Nuclear Energy Platform, which is becoming a leading mechanism for aligning positions on the global nuclear agenda and formulating joint solutions at international forums,” Vadim Titov noted.

The BRICS Nuclear Energy Platform was established at Rosatom’s initiative. Its primary goal is to promote best practices and advanced approaches in peaceful uses of nuclear technology—both for energy and non-energy applications—across BRICS markets. The members of the platform are not countries, but individual companies and organizations that can join the association. Throughout 2025, the platform is hosting expert events at major industry forums.

Vadim Titov also highlighted Brazil’s strategic importance as a key partner for Rosatom in Latin America. The Russian nuclear corporation collaborates with Brazil in critical areas such as medicine and energy. Following a public tender, Rosatom won a contract to supply nuclear fuel products for the country’s only nuclear power plant, Angra. Additionally, Rosatom supplies medical isotopes to Brazil under long-term contracts, contributing directly to cancer diagnostics and treatment. Rosatom ranks among the world’s top five suppliers of isotope products for nuclear medicine and stands unmatched for the variety of isotopes it produces.

Along with producing and supplying medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals, Rosatom also delivers ‘turnkey’ comprehensive solutions for medicine, such as nuclear medicine centers. One such center is currently under construction by Rosatom in Bolivia. When operational, Bolivia’s nuclear research and technology center will produce radiopharmaceuticals for over 5,000 cancer diagnostic and treatment procedures annually.

Drawing on its accumulated expertise in nuclear technology, Rosatom is offering its solutions to international partners and exploring opportunities to expand its equipment exports to foreign markets, including Latin America.
