Rosatom’s Ukrainian enterprise Enegromashspetstal (EMSS, part of Atomenergomash) made a deal with Polish branch of Alstom, one of the world’s leader in producing power engineering equipment and railroad transport. EMSS is to produce two rotor rough workpieces of 36,1 tons in bulk. The workpieces will undergo a full circle processing and, according to the deal conditions, will be delivered to client in April 2014. In future those will be parts of steam turbine. The cooperation between Alstom and EMSS has lasted since 2008, the latter producing generator and turbine rotors for the former.
NRO NNSA visited ZiO-Podolsk
The NRO NNSA delegation (Technical supervisor of the PRC) visited ZiO-Podolsk (machine-building plant producing heat-exchange equipment for NPP and thermal power energy enterprises, part of Rosatom’s engineering division – Atomenergomash). The delegation visited halls and labs and audited all stages of steam-generators’ production. “During the audit the PRC representatives saw that the plant fully satisfies the requirements of Chinese technical inspection and is ready to produce four steam-generators for the Tianwan NPP-2 this year “, – said Tatiana Lizunova, ZiO-Podolsk Director for Quality.
New EurAsEC Vice-President
Rector of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NTSU, one of Rosatom’s –oriented institutions), Sergey Dmitriev, was elected Vice-President of the Nuclear Education Network IAEA – EurAsEC. According to him, this appointment is very honorable, since it proves that nuclear education and technologies in Russia are considered one of the best in the world. Mr. Dmitriev was appointed to post during the IAEA conference in Vienna (Austria) on January 15-17. The goal of the meeting was to establish a net of nuclear education between the CIS-countries.
Your Course: IT for Youth
Nuclear Energy Information Center of Rostov-on-Don is a partner of the Microsoft project titled “Your Course: IT for Youth”. The project is meant to help young people realize their potential in three key spheres: education, employment and business activity. This is a series of meetings of young people with IT professionals, where they can ask direct questions and get complete answers and update information at first hand. The project coordinator, Elena Ostrivnaya, told us about the main project’s branches: “Our task is to attract as many adolescents as possible, showing them creative approach to IT and possibilities of using them in professional and private life”.
