The traveling crane lifted the 440-ton stator to Level 15 of the turbine island to put it in the permanent position. “The stator is an essential electrical part of the turbine and the heaviest piece of the power plant machinery. It is the stator that converts mechanical energy of the turbine into electricity,” noted Sergei Olontsev, Senior Vice President for National Projects at NIIAEP. “All the operations now performed at the facility are approved by the project owner and licensed by the Belarusian regulator,” he added.
