Akkuyu NPP. The first unit of Turkey’s nuclear power plant under construction received a commissioning permit. The document was issued by the Board of the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Authority. With the permit obtained, the plant can proceed with commissioning operations, the final stage of the construction process. “The decision of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority confirms that we have met all the requirements of the Turkish law and international standards for new nuclear build, and we are ready to move forward,” said Anastasia Zoteeva, CEO at Akkuyu Nuclear. The next licensing step for the Akkuyu NPP is to obtain an operating permit for Unit 1. This will allow the loading of nuclear fuel into the reactor core and pre-operational tests to begin.
