Akkuyu NPP. On April 27, the first batch of fresh nuclear fuel was delivered to Akkuyu NPP in Turkey in a ceremony attended by Russian and Turkish presidents, head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev, head of the IAEA Rafael Grossi and other high-ranking officials. “The construction of the first NPP in Türkiye was a truly joint project. More than 400 Turkish companies participate in it. It can be said that Türkiye has already developed its own nuclear industrial cluster. The accumulated experience of cooperation will allow us to realize the potential of this cluster on other projects,” Alexey Likhachev noted. Rosatom is simultaneously building four units with VVER-1200 reactors at the site: the first concrete for the Unit 1 was poured in 2018 and for Unit 4 last year. The Akkuyu is the largest construction site of Rosatom and one of the largest nuclear construction projects in the world.
