China. SNIIP, Rosatom’s Research Institute for Instrumentation Engineering, has completed equipping the nuclear island of China’s Xudabao Unit 3 with instrumentation and control (I&C) systems. Currently, the systems are being adjusted and tested. The supplied and installed equipment and related software will monitor reactor plant parameters, ensuring diagnostics, protection, and fire safety. Other deliveries from SNIIP included laboratory equipment and a full-scale simulator. The Xudabao NPP is a major cooperative project between Russia and China, involving the construction of Units 3 and 4 with VVER-1200 reactors. The agreements to this effect, including nuclear fuel supplies, were signed in 2019. Within this construction project, Rosatom acts as a nuclear island designer and supplier, and provides installation supervision and equipment commissioning services. The units are scheduled for commissioning in 2027–2028.
