Cooperation. Rosatom signed agreements with Togo, Rwanda, and Uganda on the sidelines of the 3rd Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow. The memorandum with Togo’s Ministry of Energy outlines the assessment of potential nuclear energy projects and non-energy applications of nuclear technologies, as well as workforce training. Another memorandum was signed with the Rwanda Atomic Energy Board to assess the nuclear infrastructure development needs of this African nation. The third document, a roadmap with Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, establishes a working group to evaluate the national nuclear infrastructure and outline the steps toward negotiating a site survey contract for the proposed nuclear power plant in the country’s Nakasongola District. “It is crucial for us to combine this effort with training local professionals and developing the competencies Uganda needs to run its own nuclear program,” said Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev.
