Education. Bangladesh hosted the 4th Precise Energy Olympiad organized by Rosatom. Aimed at promoting science, the competition was held in the Rooppur NPP host region with support from the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. Over 2,900 high school and university students from 40 educational institutions across the country participated in the Olympiad marking the 80th anniversary of the Russian nuclear industry. More than 600 individuals, who demonstrated profound knowledge in physics, chemistry, mathematics and engineering, advanced to the finals. Rooppur NPP Construction Director Ashraful Islam expressed hope that the talented competitors would join the nuclear power plant project in the future. The Rooppur NPP is constructed 160 km away from Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. The plant will have two Russian-designed VVER-1200 reactors with a total power capacity of 2,400 MW.
