El Dabaa.  The construction of the foundation of the first VVER-1200-based power unit of the El-Dabaa NPP (Egypt) has been completed, Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Sources Mohammed Shaker said at the 66th IAEA General Conference.  “In July, we launched an ambitious project after we received permission to build the first power unit. We have already completed work on the foundation of the first power unit. And now we will be in the league of those countries that have their own nuclear power plants,” Shaker said, stressing that this was an important achievement for his country.  El-Dabaa NPP will consist of four units with VVER-1200 reactors.
