Indonesia. Rosatom and Indonesia’s Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) held a seminar in Jakarta on the regulation of floating nuclear power units. The event brought together over 60 representatives from government ministries and specialized organizations, marking another discussion in a series of meetings aimed at developing the regulatory framework for potential floating nuclear plant projects in the country. The attendees emphasized the importance of international expertise and professional dialogue in establishing the national regulatory system. “We highly value the readiness of our Russian colleagues to share their expertise, which makes a significant contribution to developing Indonesia’s regulatory framework for peaceful uses of nuclear energy,” said Zainal Arifin, Head of BAPETEN. Nuclear cooperation between Russia and Indonesia has been ongoing for over 20 years. According to the national energy program, the country’s first nuclear power plant can be built and put into operation as early as 2032, and Rosatom stands ready to offer its technologies.
