ITER. Rosatom made this year’s largest shipment of components for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). A carrier frame of the first out of four stands for vacuum, strength, thermal and functional tests on port plugs was shipped to the construction site in France. The frame weighs more than 20 metric tonnes. The test stands, including the carrier frame shipped, are manufactured using innovative Russian technology. They will simulate real operating conditions of the reactor to test the port plugs in the closest-to-real environment. “Russia remains fully committed to its in-kind contribution to the ITER project. We have already made a number of high-tech equipment deliveries this year,” said Anatoly Krasilnikov, Director of the ITER Project Center in Russia.
