Lithium. On June 29, in La Paz, Uranium One Group (a Rosatom’s organization) and the Bolivian state company YLB (Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos, Bolivian lithium deposits) signed agreement for the construction of an industrial complex for the extraction and production of lithium carbonate in the Potosi Department in Bolivia. The signing of the agreement followed the Uranium One Group’s participation in the international tender for direct lithium extraction technologies organized by YLB. Lithium mining will rely on the Russian direct sorption extraction technology. Uranium One’s proposal involves participation in the production chain from lithium mining to marketable products. Today, lithium is in the mainstream of the green economy: it is a critical element for the development of energy storage systems which have already been used on a large scale in a number of high-tech industries.
