Medicine. Rosatom showcased its nuclear medicine developments at the 9th FOR LIFE International Forum on Oncology and Radiotherapy in Moscow. Scientists and experts from the Russian nuclear corporation presented equipment for FLASH radiotherapy, a technique that delivers a full therapeutic dose of ionizing radiation to a tumor in an extremely short time. This approach is designed to maintain treatment efficacy while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. Achieving this requires high-power sources and precision control systems for irradiation parameters. Rosatom is developing a full-cycle nuclear medicine ecosystem, spanning isotope production, radiopharmaceuticals, and diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Brachyum high-dose radiation therapy units are already in use at Russian hospitals, while the construction of a GMP-compliant radiopharmaceutical factory is nearing completion in the Kaluga Region. The forum also featured the launch of an educational initiative for physicians on the use of samarium-153 for treating bone metastases. Both the drug and the isotope used in its production are manufactured by Rosatom’s science division.
