Medicine. Rosatom has launched two pilot production lines at its new radiopharmaceuticals factory in the Kaluga Region, Russia. The commissioning phase will conclude with the production of test batches to validate that products meet quality requirements. Ramp-up to full capacity is scheduled for 2028. The factory is being built in compliance with EAEU Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards aligned with international norms. It will produce a broad portfolio of radiopharmaceuticals, including those based on radium-223 for the treatment of bone metastases and actinium-225 for targeted cancer therapies. “We will be able to almost fully meet the country’s healthcare needs, which are expected to reach approximately 1.5 million procedures by the end of the decade,” said Pavel Zaitsev, Director General of Rosatom Science JSC. Rosatom currently produces more than ten registered radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
