NSR.  Cargo turnover along the Northern Sea Route (NSR) in 2021 will reach  about 35 mln tons. According to Leonid Irlitsa, Atomflot Shipping  Director, in 2020, this figure was 33 million tons. Earlier, Russian  President Vladimir Putin ordered to ensure the cargo traffic along the  Northern Sea Route to reach 80 mln tons by 2024. The Northern Sea Route  is the shortest route from Europe to Asia with the length of 5,600 km  from the Kara Gates Strait to Provideniya Bay.
