Power generation. For the first seven months of 2023, Russia’s nuclear power plants generated over 124.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, or 102.33% of the output target set by the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service. The power and heat generation targets are set for each individual power plant, based on the combined forecast for electricity and heat generation by all power plants and factoring in their operating modes, scheduled repairs, and electricity and heat consumption estimates. Year to date, the Russian nuclear power plants have generated more than 2.8 billion kilowatt-hours above the target and prevented over 60 million tons of CO2 equivalent from being emitted into the atmosphere.
